The conference theme calls for revisiting India’s knowledge traditions — spanning science, philosophy, language and spirituality — and placing them in dialogue with contemporary global challenges, across the eight broad sub-themes listed on the Themes page.

Hansraj College is one of the largest constituent colleges of the University of Delhi. The college was founded by the D.A.V. College Managing Committee on 26th July 1948, in the sacred memory of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati and Mahatma Hansraj, who devoted their lives to emphasising the importance of knowledge. It is one of the leading institutions in the D.A.V. family of over 700 institutions.

A premier institution dedicated to teaching and research, the College has highly qualified academicians who impart education in Science, Commerce and Arts at the undergraduate and graduate levels to more than 5,000 students, and has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in academics, sports and extracurricular activities.

Having completed 77 years in the realm of higher education, Hansraj College has made significant and unparalleled contributions in producing scholars, bureaucrats, intellectuals and sportspersons serving in different domains, both within the country and at international levels.

Over the years, the College has built an impressive infrastructure, including a well-stocked Central Library, departmental libraries for the sciences, and a Book Bank for needy students, along with six Computer and eighteen Science Laboratories. Its sports facilities include an extensive field with football and basketball grounds, an indoor sports complex, and the only Electronic Shooting Range in the entire University.

The College has a modern, air-conditioned Auditorium fitted with the latest sound and light systems, seating 400–500 persons, with a dedicated balcony to host dignitaries and guests. Its air-conditioned Seminar Rooms seat up to 120 people and are equipped with state-of-the-art sound and projection systems. Hostel facilities for both boys and girls accommodate more than 200 undergraduate students, complete with solar geysers and 24-hour power back-up.

The quiet, serene ambience of a lovely campus, surrounded by lush green fields and a gorgeous edifice, touches the soul of every visitor who reaches its doors. The College also offers a number of scholarships to deserving students. A language tied to the rich and glorious heritage of India, Sanskrit remains relevant today as the chief medium for unlocking the wisdom of our ancient thinkers. Besides acquainting students with the social, cultural and political values of ancient cultures, the subject enables them to appreciate ancient Indian history, linguistics, archaeology and more. The Honours course places special emphasis on interpreting ancient Vedic, later Upanishadic and classical literature for modern times.

Graduates of the Department find employment in teaching, translation and the civil services, apart from pursuing higher studies. The faculty consists of dedicated and experienced teachers with specialisations in grammar, philosophy, philology and Vedic studies.
